tabs / activeTab / contextMenus

These permissions identify the current page and provide save entry points.

  • Right-click and shortcut save need the current tab URL and title.
  • activeTab is used after a user action.
  • contextMenus adds the Add to GoToNav right-click item.

cookies and storage

The extension needs to know whether your GoToNav account is signed in.

  • cookies help detect GoToNav login state.
  • storage caches popup state, categories, and authorization status.
  • When not signed in, the extension asks you to authorize first.

history / scripting / notifications

These support browser integration and user feedback.

  • history powers the frequent-sites module in Dashboard.
  • scripting syncs extension status with GoToNav pages.
  • notifications show save success or failure feedback.

The extension is optional

If you only want to import and organize Chrome bookmarks, the web app works without the extension.
